How This All Started
In 2018, the land adjacent to Sara’s two properties came onto the market. What was then one house and the rest undeveloped land became five lots. One of those lots was a 1 acre triangle of land directly across the road from Sara’s properties. Sara approached Ellen and Martha about purchasing the land. In April 2019, we three sisters became owners of the lot.
We have been coming to Martha’s Vineyard since we were teens and my Aunt Nancy and Uncle Richard moved to the island as new owners of Menemsha Inn. Several of their children followed and still live there. After college, while I was living in NYC, I would visit the Vineyard for summer visits and spend my evenings working in the Inn restaurant. I spent a magical September working at the Black Dog bakery and goofing off with my friend Melissa. For several years, Nan and Richard hosted large Thanksgiving gatherings at the Inn. They sold the Inn 20 years ago when Nancy was diagnosed with Alzheimers. While Nancy is gone, Richard still lives in Chilmark with his beloved dog Tucker.
In 2012, Sara purchased a house in the Lagoon neighborhood of Vineyard Haven. She now lives most of the year on the Island and serves as the E.D. of the Martha’s Vineyard Mediation Program and is on the board of the MV Community Greenhouse.
