Land Bank
The Martha’s Vineyard Land Bank is a significant reason why the island is a great place to visit and live. A small percentage of all house sales goes into the land bank. Funds are used to purchase properties around the island that protect the fragile ecosystem and provide public access to gorgeous trails, vistas and beaches. Here’s the current map.
When Sara moved to Martha’s Vineyard in 2012, she set out to visit every Land Bank property. It was a terrific way to explore the island. Each time she visited a property, she highlighted it on the Land Bank map. She got to them all except a few accessible only by boat.
Now it’s my turn. During my latest visit, I got a map and started checking off the properties. Here are a few.
Lamberts Cove
Sepiessa Point Reservation
Quansoo Preserve
Waskosim’s Rock Reservation
Great Rock Bite Preserve
A good start to lots of adventures!
